If you’re short on Ghastly, now include the time to go find some. Pokémon GO continues to be running its single timed event within the last few days, offering players double candy from catches and quadruple candy through the buddy system, in addition to flooding the Pokéworld with Ghost-type and otherwise creepy Pokémon to find yourself in the holiday spirit. Judging by the game’s App Store rankings, it’s gotten numerous lapsed players out of the home there, catching Pokémon and exploring. All good things ended, however, and also this is the last day of the wedding. The event ends Nov. 1, though timezones make that the little unclear exactly when the big event will end, but my guess could well be sometime early tomorrow morning Pacific Time: ending the improved rewards during actual ringing doorbells for treats time looks a bit excessive.
The event continues to be instructive, showing us this game, despite it’s flagging userbase, is really a lot stronger laptop or computer might have seemed earlier a couple weeks ago. It provided players with a lttle bit of excitement along with a chance to interrupt the somewhat monotonous day-to-day gameplay in Pokémon GO. And there’s many opportunity for more holiday-themed events from the coming weeks: not simply Thanksgiving and Christmas, even so the release of Pokémon Sun and Moon too. It’s a possiblity to generate some headlines and activate the playerbase, but it’s not really the whole equation.
The main problem with the raised rewards at this time is that they will hustle players ever forward towards their stopping point. Right now, Pokémon GO gets pretty grindy after just a couple of weeks of play, but once you’ve completed the Pokédex there’s essentially nothing left to complete except interact using a gym system that doesn’t compare to providing a proper endgame. Events shall be very important with regards to getting people back into the game, even so the fact remains that they’re want to more things to try and do once they’re there. That means multiplayer battles, some kind of single player progression or maybe just a continuous grind towards cosmetic loot. Without measures like this, we’ll just wind up right back where we started.
